Enabling Customer Trials with Lab-Quality Metrics

Pinpoint also provides a structured and functionally rich platform for customer "beta" trials. On supported models, the PinApp software can be loaded into a phone under test where it will run in the background collected detailed call information including call setup times, handovers, and neighbor cell measurements. PinApp also provides the user to enter and log issues directly into the log in order to document customer-perceived issues. All of this information is periodically uploaded to the Pinpoint server (PinPortal) where it is organized by the customer into trials where detailed reports can be generated based upon the collected metrics and organized by software version or by geographic location, depending upon the nature of the trial. PinPortal is also where you will create and manage the Trials functionality. Once the PinApp software is deployed, you can manage the list of phones that will participate in your trial from the portal.

Pinpoint Analysis Test Suite

Pinpoint, developed by tkLABS, is a suite of tools that provide the ability to quickly identify and concentrate on the issues that affect voice quality and the overall customer experience.

Pinpoint provides a reference standard for judging audio quality through use of the PinStation desktop software. Pinpoint provides the tracking of audio quality in the sound lab and also on the road as Pinpoint will track voice quality by phone model, version, or GPS location.

When issues do occur, Pinpoint will provide in-depth details of the conditions of the call, including the condition of the phone's battery, the signal strength, GPS location, and (for some models) a detailed timeline of the call including call setup times, handovers, and neighbor cell measurements.

Completing the Pinpoint suite is the web-based customer portal. The portal provides access to all collected test data. Each customer can use multiple accounts to separate each tester's data into their own sandbox, which can be shared with the group once the testing is complete. Once shared, any member of the group and view and comment on the test data or view the available reports. To support a larger organization, hierarchical levels of groups can be created so that important test results can be "escalated" to the attention others.
